Participants in the Eastern National Electricity Market (NEM)

Synengco is collaborating with the energy analytics team within the Queensland Government, aiming to make informed, data-driven recommendations to policy makers.

Leveraging on best practice concepts from ISO 55001 and US EPA NESCS, a systematic framework for strategic decision support has been developed. By encoding data and knowledge about the NEM using agent-based modelling, we can conduct rigorous assessments of how each decision may impact the network and help the transition towards a sustainable energy network.

Objectives

Derive insights about the NEM using public data
Improve understanding of energy transition towards renewables
Improve certainty around impact of policy options

Key Outcomes

Insights gained into plant reliability using public data
Model-based metrics established to assess outage risks
Capacity modelling highlighted importance of behavioural modelling
On-going project established to continue model development and scenario analysis
